Cameron Ayn Smith
Cameron Ayn Smith is a photographer and will be graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2010. She has studied also at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. Cameron has worked as a freelance photographer for private clients, events for Apache Skateboards, and for the Humble Gallery in New Mexico. Cameron has shown work at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee, OK and in shows sponsored by the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.
Her work focuses on issues about Native American identity and stereotypes. Cameron is Cherokee from Oklahoma and draws heavily from her culture but is not confined by it. Her work ranges from photography, paintings, sculptures, and drawings. She deals with Native American issues as well as political and social issues. Cameron is from Tulsa, OK, but currently is residing in Chicago, IL.
